Trade Masters: The Heart of Civita Skillers

At Civita Skillers, everything begins with the relationship between a master and an apprentice. Tools and facilities matter, but it is the craftsperson who has spent years on real sites, solving real problems, who can show a young worker what good work really looks like. Trade masters set the standard, pass on hard-won lessons, and shape the culture of safety, discipline, and pride that stays with an apprentice for life.

Through our Build Africa Hub, we invite experienced trade masters in masonry, carpentry, roofing, finishes, electrical, plumbing, welding, HVAC, aluminum, and glazing, as well as quality control professionals from Uganda, East Africa, the United States, and other regions to join us. Visiting experts join structured residencies where they co-teach, help codify standard operating procedures and quality playbooks, and mentor both apprentices and local instructors.
Serving as a trade master at Civita Skillers means more than giving a few lectures. You work side by side with young people on live projects, review their work, walk sites with them, and show them how you think, not just what you do. You also help us strengthen our trainer bench, leaving behind methods, checklists, and habits that continue long after you board your flight home.

We are seeking practitioners who prioritize integrity, safety, and education; individuals who are willing to sacrifice convenience for impact and treat every session as an investment in the next generation of builders and small contractors in Uganda’s expanding construction and real estate development sectors.

If you are a master craftsperson and you want your skills to outlive your own career, we invite you to apply to serve as a trade master with Civita Skillers. Share your trade, share your story, and help us build crews, companies, and communities that stand the test of time.
