Civita Skillers Initiative has officially launched in Uganda, positioning itself as a new construction apprenticeship and business hub for Uganda and East Africa. Built on a simple idea that good buildings begin with good builders, Civita Skillers aims to close the gap between classroom theory and the realities of the jobsite by training aspiring craftspersons and tradespeople in real world conditions, on real projects, with real accountability.

The initiative focuses on core construction trades that drive housing and real estate development: masonry and concrete, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, electrical installation, welding and metal fabrication, tiling and flooring, painting and decorating, drywall and ceilings, glazing and aluminum systems, landscaping, and construction quality control. Apprentices will learn in multi trade labs and active sites under the guidance of local instructors and visiting trade masters from Uganda, East Africa, the United States, and other regions, blending global best practice with local building realities.

Civita Skillers is designed not only as a training centre but as a pipeline into work and enterprise. Through its for profit arm, Asgard Developers, the initiative will connect training with real contracts in construction and real estate development. Apprentices will take part in supervised micro projects, supported by a shared tool bank and light back office systems for costing, bidding, and compliance. The long term goal is to see graduates progress from site ready workers to small contractors and business owners who can serve residential, commercial, and especially hospitality developments with consistent quality.

The organisation is also building a Business Incubation Hub for trades and small contractors, helping promising alumni formalise their operations, secure their first contracts, and access professional tools and mentorship. This positions Civita Skillers as both a talent engine and a venture builder inside the construction ecosystem.

At its launch, Civita Skillers set out a clear ambition: to become a trusted partner for apprentices, contractors, developers, trade masters, and donors who want to see safer buildings, better jobs, and stronger local enterprises. By linking skills, character, and opportunity in one model, the initiative hopes to help raise the standard for how Uganda and the wider region build.
